Demolition & Structural Preparation
The renovation began with extensive demolition to open the kitchen and adjoining living areas for the new layout. The existing flooring, fireplace and chimney were removed, along with selected interior walls and finishes.
One of the walls being removed was load-bearing, so a new approximately 25-foot structural beam was installed to carry the loads previously supported by the wall and create a much more open floor plan. Portions of the ceiling were also opened to provide access for new plumbing, electrical wiring and other mechanical work required for the remodeled kitchen.
Once the structural modifications and rough-in preparation were completed, the space was ready for floor preparation, new utilities, drywall repairs and construction of the new kitchen.
Kitchen Remodel, Lighting & Finish Upgrades
The new kitchen was built around the open layout created during the structural renovation. Shaker-style cabinetry was installed throughout, along with a large center island to provide additional storage, countertop space and seating.
The lighting package included recessed ceiling lighting and under-cabinet lighting to improve both task lighting and the overall appearance of the kitchen. New countertops, backsplash, plumbing fixtures and updated electrical components were coordinated with the cabinet installation to create a clean, finished design.
New tile flooring was installed throughout the kitchen and adjoining areas, tying the renovated spaces together and completing the transition from the original closed-in layout to a brighter, more open and functional kitchen.
