Demolition & Site Preparation
Because the homeowners remained in the condo throughout the kitchen renovation, we planned the demolition and construction process to maintain basic day-to-day functionality. The refrigerator remained accessible, and a temporary kitchen area was set up with a working sink and stove so the homeowners continued to have running water and access to the stove, microwave and refrigerator during construction.
The kitchen renovation then began with removal of the existing cabinets, countertops, tile flooring and selected wall sections to prepare the space for the new layout. Because the project was located in a condominium, a sound-reducing underlayment membrane was installed over the floor to help reduce sound transmission between units before the new flooring was installed.
Electrical work was also coordinated during this phase, including repositioning switches and running new wiring for the pendant lighting. Completing the demolition, floor preparation and electrical rough-in first created a clean foundation for the new cabinetry, countertops, lighting and finish work that followed.
Kitchen Remodel, Lighting & Finish Upgrades
The kitchen remodel included a major layout change by removing an existing wall to open the space and create a new peninsula-style configuration. After the wall was removed, the surrounding drywall was repaired and texture-matched to blend with the existing finishes.
New custom cabinetry was installed using contrasting wall and base cabinet colors to add visual interest and give the kitchen a more custom appearance. The lighting package included pendant lights, under-cabinet lighting and additional accent lighting, along with new switches to provide convenient control of the upgraded lighting system.
Additional improvements included plantation shutters, updated electrical components and a new plumbing line to supply water to the refrigerator. The completed kitchen provides a brighter, more open layout with improved storage, lighting and everyday functionality.
